You are bidding on a used YORK GRAND RAPIDS MICHIGAN trumpet comes with original case. The case the case is pretty well beat up. Trumpet seems to be in alright condition showing a few dents and wear to the silver finish. It can probably use a nice polishing.
Unfortinately, ts no mouth piece with it. The valve buttons are mother pearl and they seem to be ok, but I'm no trumpet player / expert, so I can't tell you much more about it. The only marking I see on it is the brand name 'YORK' GRAND RAPIDS MICHIGAN U.S.A. So I have no idea when it was made, but I do know it was in my family for over 20 years or longer. It was passed down to me from my great Grandmother. Thats all I know about this item.
If any questions please ask me and I will try to answer them to the best of my ability. Good luck and happy bidding. You are bidding on a used YORK GRAND RAPIDS MICHIGAN trumpet comes with original case. The case the case is pretty well beat up.

Agreed Thom but some people just love the whole history thing (I did and do with analog Synths) - to me they`re just more mouldy old saxes, and the world is full of mouldy old saxes that are respectable horns once serviced. If they were anything really special people would be screaming for them alongside 6M/10Ms, S20s, TH&Cs, Comms and the vintage Selmers as there are very few if any vintage stones which have been unturned in the sax world by now.I appreciate those who love the thrill of the chase finding a hidden gem (for them) or a rare stencil they`ve not seen before but a saxophone is just a musical instrument to me and if a YAS21/25 etc or a Jupiter T789 or TJ Rev-II/SR etc does the job as well or better that`s what I`d rather have. I love old saxes but they should be playing as they were when they were new. But nowadays it's hard to find good old saxes. Most old saxes have been much played over they years and they need a complete mechanical restoration to be good players. And that cost a lot of money. To buy a vintage sax for £ 1000.00 that needs work and pay another £ 800.00 - 1000.00 for a complete mechanical restoration + parts.
I would consider a modern horn instead. But old saxes are nice. But to be honest, I'm just playing YTS-25, Martin Comm, Conn 18M soprano, The Tone King. The other saxes are resting in thier saxes.
Yes, Rev D seems to be right. There is a crack to the right of the tone hole, as mentions, the top tone holes are on a rib, this comes off in one piece. I would say it is saveable, but it is also an awful lot of work.Perhaps some of them are mouldy old saxes, but with the right amount of tlc they can be really quite wonderful and sound far superior to the tinnies xxxI agree, some of those vintage collector saxes are just silly money, that soprano I would sell for less than that in full working order!.p.s. I know how much it sold for in outside auction. Chinese or Romanian SML copy.See lots of them over here. Whatever it is.
Is it worth your wile? Many years ago there was had a brand called “ Swallow” ( like other brands of the time Parrot and Lark! ) they made bad SML look alike, to this day they are on the market but made by other companies. Arta Guban Timisoara also made some horns with that kind of look and occasionally people are fooled into thinking they have discovered a SML stencil.I couldn’t find a nice pic but here it is a modern version.
A “ swallow” brand from the ’60 would look like the one you have shown above.
